By its own technology of producing and installing steam turbines, up to 1004 ºF and 2030 psia, TGM is focused in three important pillars of the industry: GREATER SAFETY, GREATER EFFICIENCY and HIGHER OPERATIONAL AVAILABILITY to attend the costumers’ needs.
TGM offers a complete line of steam turbines for mechanical drives such as shredders, mills, pumps, exhausts and others. It is applied in electric energy generators from small to large for any industrial sector in Brazil and abroad.
With infrastructure and advanced technology comparing to the largest companies around the world, TGM is considered the largest company of Latin America in the segment of steam turbine, gearboxes, accessories and services.
The turbine rotor shaft is manufactured in one piece, forged in Cr-Mo steel. It operates in high rotations and offers greater resistance and mechanical reliability to the assembly. The blades have controlled geometries and fixture, to ensure excellent performance and vibration tamping. The blades are made in 13% Cr-stainless steel and with controlled aerodynamic profile for greater efficiency. It is inspected by a strict standard control and assembled according to each project.
The case of the turbine is merged in steel alloy. It endures high pressure and high temperatures and is designed under the “double wall” concept, which restricts the incidence of high pressure and temperature to an extremely small area of the machine, resulting in excellent thermo-mechanical elasticity and considerably increasing the useful life of the equipment. It has a modular construction, which allows execution with controlled extraction.
Regulating valves have independent drives, integrated into the upper case with a division upto three individual chambers to ensure better distribution of the steam, partial loads control and allows external adjustments, acting as additional protection against overspeed.
Emergency Shut Down Valve (ESV)
The emergency shut down Valve (ESV)is hydraulically driven and has high reliability. With integrated starting, the valve allows tests with the turbine in operation. This valve is of high importance in the turbine protection because it always works when there is a variation of what was designed and indicated in safety and control for turbomachinery. A more common example is to avoid the “water hammer" which drags condensed steam inside the turbinecausing damage on it.
The servo motor performs directly on the steam control valve and the technological advancements guarantees performance without delay response, which is common in articulated systems. The main function of this part is the distribution and control of the thermodynamic steam cycle. To obtain a better work of it, it must have a high quality of steam; otherwise it can suffer encrustation and possible mechanical problems.
Safety and Control System
It is an electronic integrated system with protective devices for greater operational safety. TGM safety and control services team uses various procedures to protect the assembly, which is pretty important in the system operation. In most cases, a fail in the operation is the main cause of accidents with the equipment.
The sliding bearings and axial anchor are manufactured bysteel and lined with Babbitt. These parts are of high mechanical technology and it operates by acontinuous and high-quality lubrication. TGM has a cell that manufactures bearings of any size or any brand using high quality materials.
The sealing by maze with stainless steel strips are mounted on the shaft. It guarantees the steam does not escape out ofthe thermodynamic cycle. If the exhaust steam escapes, the turbine loses its efficiency.
